Description

This is a full-time, hybrid Quantum Software Engineer role on Infleqtion’s Compiler Team, based in Chicago, IL. The role focuses on designing and maintaining quantum compilation software, with involvement in co-design work across the full quantum stack (applications, algorithms, hardware, and control). It’s open to both entry-level and senior candidates, and pays between $120,000 and $150,000 per year with a full benefits package.

About Infleqtion

Infleqtion is a quantum technology company headquartered in Boulder, CO, with additional offices in Chicago, Madison, Melbourne, and Oxford. Built on more than a decade of atom-based quantum research, its technology is used by organizations including NASA.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct R&D toward advances in quantum compilation.
  • Deploy software optimizations to Infleqtion’s cloud platform, Superstaq, following industry-grade engineering practices including documentation, linting, testing, and type-checking.
  • Work directly with Superstaq customers to understand their needs and support them.
  • Contribute to government and commercial proposals and help execute global programs.
  • Collaborate with experimental physicists and software engineers to turn theoretical concepts into practical implementations.
  • Engage with the broader scientific community by publishing research and presenting at conferences.
  • Mentor other team members and help foster a collaborative research environment.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, physics, or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills, ideally with fluency in Python (or C/C++/Julia with the ability to quickly upskill in Python).
  • Experience with open-source quantum software frameworks such as Cirq or Qiskit, ideally including modifying them, not just using them.

Nice to Have

  • Exposure to or interest in front-end/GUI development, such as HTML/CSS, React, or PyQt.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range of $120,000-$150,000 per year, plus 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, an employer-funded HSA, unlimited PTO, 401(k) match, company-paid life and AD&D insurance, an FSA, paid FMLA and parental leave, an employee assistance program, student loan repayment support, and an equity program.
