About LearnWorlds

LearnWorlds is a remote-first EdTech SaaS platform used by creators, educators, and organizations in more than 150 countries to turn their expertise into scalable online courses and learning products. The Engineering team behind it is responsible for building the core experiences that educators and learners interact with every day, and this role sits inside that team.

What You’ll Do

As an SDET with an AI focus, you’ll own test automation for your assigned product areas end to end, while also shaping how the wider team uses AI tooling inside the QA process itself. In practice that means building and maintaining Playwright/TypeScript tests using the Page Object Model, deciding what genuinely needs automated coverage versus what’s better handled manually or exploratorily, and directing AI agents on a daily basis to plan, generate, debug, and maintain automation on your behalf.

Your involvement starts well before code is written: you’ll join product planning early so you can help shape scope, risk, test data, and environments from the outset, rather than testing after the fact. For each piece of risk you identify, you’ll choose the right layer to test at, whether that’s API, end-to-end, or smoke testing, and you’ll be building and evolving the underlying test framework itself, including page objects, user flows, typed API clients, and fixtures.

A big part of the role is keeping automation genuinely useful rather than becoming noise the team learns to ignore. That means designing real test scenarios and comprehensive test strategy plans, owning the end-to-end CI test suite, and fixing flakiness at its root cause instead of just re-running failed tests. You’ll report coverage and risk honestly, including calling out gaps that still need manual or exploratory testing, and when you do find defects you’ll file actionable reports complete with screenshots, traces, and stack traces, clearly separating product issues from automation issues, environment issues, and data issues.

The AI-tooling side of the role is just as central as the testing side: you’ll be directing AI agents and reviewing their output critically, rejecting anything flaky, unasserted, or oversized, and you’ll help build out the team’s AI tooling layer itself, including reusable agent skills, subagent definitions, and machine-readable convention rules that keep AI-generated tests consistent. Beyond your own test areas, you’ll also help shape testing standards for the team more broadly.

  • Join product planning early to help shape scope, risk, test data, and environments
  • Choose the right test layer (API, end-to-end, or smoke) for each risk
  • Build and evolve the test framework, including page objects, flows, typed API clients, and fixtures
  • Advocate for testability and keep automation useful rather than noisy
  • Design test scenarios and comprehensive test strategy plans
  • Own end-to-end CI tests and fix flakiness at its root cause
  • Report coverage and risk honestly, including gaps that need manual or exploratory testing
  • File actionable defect reports with screenshots, traces, and stack traces, separating product, automation, environment, and data issues
  • Direct AI agents and review their output, rejecting flaky, unasserted, or oversized tests
  • Build out the AI tooling layer, including reusable agent skills, subagent definitions, and machine-readable convention rules for generated tests
  • Help shape testing standards across the team

What You’ll Need

LearnWorlds is looking for someone with at least 3 years of professional QA/testing experience who has genuinely owned automation rather than just contributed to it, backed by strong TypeScript and modern JavaScript skills. Hands-on experience with Playwright, or a comparable framework, combined with real experience using the Page Object Model, is required, along with solid familiarity with Git and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.

Beyond the technical tooling, the role calls for strong analytical skills when it comes to writing test scenarios, acceptance criteria, and strategy documents, and the ability to test across multiple layers, including API, UI, cross-browser, and responsive testing, while knowing which layer actually fits a given risk. You’ll need strong debugging, problem-solving, and performance optimization skills, real attention to detail, and a product-focused mindset rather than a purely technical one.

Because you’ll be reporting on coverage and risk to the wider team, clear communication of technical concepts is essential, as is comfort working inside a flat, non-hierarchical organization where you’re expected to drive decisions rather than wait for direction. Strong prioritization, estimation, and scheduling skills matter too, along with the ability to learn the LearnWorlds platform itself quickly. Given the AI-tooling half of the role, proven agentic AI skills and sound judgment when reviewing AI-generated output are must-haves, not nice-to-haves.

Nice to Have

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerized test environments would be useful, as would background in EdTech, LMS, payments, ecommerce, analytics, mobile, or other complex SaaS products. Familiarity with test management tools like TestRail or Zephyr is a plus, along with cloud experience on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and any backend/API automation experience. Public GitHub repos, open-source contributions, or personal projects that demonstrate your approach to testing are also welcome.

Benefits

LearnWorlds offers private health and life insurance, and while the role is fully remote, the team does get together in person for a few meetups each year. You’ll receive an annual personal training budget and an annual home office allowance, along with a company laptop. Paid time off comes to 23 days a year, and the company runs three early-finish Fridays in July and August. You’ll also have access to AI tools as part of your day-to-day work, a free LearnWorlds School account so you can build and sell your own courses on the platform, and the chance to take part in company retreats and onsite team activities.
