Evolphin (the company behind Crop.photo) is looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer to own automation strategy and quality engineering for its AI-powered media platform. The role is primarily automation-focused, but also involves hands-on manual testing for new features, exploratory scenarios, AI output validation, and edge-case workflows — ensuring the reliability, usability, performance, and scalability of the company’s image and video automation tools.

About Evolphin

Evolphin builds the next generation of AI-powered media workflows for enterprise media teams managing massive image and video libraries — including environments with tens of millions of video assets and extremely large metadata and embedding footprints. Its platform adds a conversational AI layer for extracting intelligence from media, powering search, conversational discovery, and workflow automation through its AskAI feature. The company is now pushing further into AI-first, automation-driven media management.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and own the end-to-end automation framework covering web, API, and AI-driven features.
  • Build API automation suites for core automation workflows and integrations using Postman, Newman, or RestAssured.
  • Drive UI automation using Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility for the company’s design-heavy, canvas-based interfaces.
  • Build performance testing suites that validate image and video processing throughput under real load.
  • Embed quality gates directly into deployment pipelines (GitHub Actions, Jenkins) to enable fast, confident releases.
  • Build validation frameworks for non-deterministic ML results, balancing precision with the creative flexibility AI features need.
  • Partner with Product to define acceptance criteria for AI-driven features, and work with Engineering to shift quality left and build testability into system design from the start.
  • Use LLM tools (ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to generate and refactor automation scripts, while reviewing, validating, and hardening any AI-generated test code rather than accepting it blindly.
  • Build prompt templates that turn user stories into test cases, and stay current on AI-assisted test generation and coverage analysis techniques.
  • Test AI-driven features specifically — prompt testing, hallucination detection, cost optimization, and response validation — and design deterministic validation strategies for inherently probabilistic AI outputs.
  • Integrate automation into AI-heavy workflows such as semantic search and generative features.

What You’ll Need

  • 5-7 years of hands-on QA automation experience in fast-paced product environments.
  • Deep expertise in Playwright or Cypress for web automation, with good judgment on when to use which.
  • Proven experience with API testing tools such as Postman, Newman, RestAssured, or similar.
  • Experience validating machine learning systems or computer vision pipelines.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, or JavaScript, with the ability to read and write production-quality code.
  • Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines like GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
  • A track record testing cloud-based, multi-tenant SaaS products at scale.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, rapid iteration, and wearing multiple hats in a startup environment.

Nice to Have

  • Background in image/video processing, creative tools, or digital asset management.
  • Hands-on performance engineering experience with JMeter, k6, or Gatling.
  • Experience with AWS or GCP, particularly serverless or containerized architectures.

Benefits

The chance to build the backbone of a platform trusted by major brands to automate critical creative workflows; close collaboration at the intersection of backend, AI, and cloud automation; growth opportunities to lead backend strategy and mentor other engineers; flexible remote work arrangements; and the chance to validate genuinely cutting-edge computer vision and generative AI workflows rather than routine CRUD applications.
