Quick Facts

  • Work Policy: Remote
  • Job Type: Full Time
  • Experience Level: 5+ years of QA experience, including real ownership of releases and quality decisions

About the Role

Salla is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to take ownership of product quality across its entire platform, right down to making the final go/no-go call on releases based on risk and test results. The role is genuinely hands-on, spanning both manual and automated testing, and involves working closely with engineering, product, and DevOps teams rather than operating as a separate, siloed function.

What You’ll Do

You’ll own quality end to end, starting with requirement reviews and test strategy and carrying all the way through to the final release decision. That includes defining and refining the QA approach itself, from standards and workflows to tools and quality metrics, scaled to the actual risk and context of each release rather than following one fixed process regardless of situation.

Part of the job is deciding what to test, how deeply, and which approach fits best, whether that’s functional, regression, API, UI, performance, security, or usability testing, and figuring out what should be automated versus kept manual. You’ll perform manual and exploratory testing yourself to catch edge cases, UX problems, and UI issues such as layout, state, and responsiveness, and you’ll build and maintain Playwright automation in TypeScript/JavaScript that runs in CI and gives the team fast, reliable feedback.

You’re expected to review code and pull requests critically and push back when something isn’t right, and to triage and investigate defects using browser DevTools to actually find root causes rather than just reporting symptoms, helping the team prioritize what matters most. To prevent issues from recurring, you’ll analyze defect trends and add new tests, checks, or process changes where they’re needed. You’ll also use AI tools to speed up test creation, analysis, and debugging, while still validating their output rather than trusting it blindly, and you’ll communicate risks clearly to developers, product managers, and leadership with concrete recommendations. Beyond your own testing work, you’ll identify process, tool, and product gaps, drive improvements, and mentor other QA engineers on the team.
