LogicGate builds an AI-driven governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) platform that gives enterprise risk teams a single, real-time view of their exposure. This SDET opening sits on the team responsible for the automated test coverage behind LogicGate’s Risk Cloud product, and the company wants someone who treats AI-assisted testing as a core skill rather than an add-on — using it to speed up regression analysis, test authoring, and coverage growth.

About LogicGate

Industry analysts rank LogicGate among the top players in the GRC space, a market worth roughly $50 billion today and expected to roughly double by the early 2030s. The company has picked up several Chicago-area ‘best workplace’ awards and organizes around six stated values: teamwork, integrity, curiosity, ownership, customer focus, and raising the bar. Several employee resource groups operate internally,.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain end-to-end regression suites and automated test frameworks in TypeScript and Playwright, leaning on AI code generation to move faster from requirements to deployed tests.
  • Write API and integration-layer test code that’s easy for teammates to read, following testing-pyramid principles to keep releases stable.
  • Take ownership of edge-case and failure-path testing across the team, and coach other engineers and QA analysts on how to write testable, automatable code.
  • Track down the root cause of flaky tests or platform bugs on your own, digging through distributed logs and Datadog traces with AI-assisted analysis tools.
  • Keep test strategies, runbooks, and defect reports documented in the codebase and in Confluence so knowledge doesn’t stay siloed.
  • Query and manage test data in PostgreSQL and other platform data stores, using AI tooling to speed up that work.
  • Estimate testing effort and flag blockers during Agile sprint planning, working closely with product managers, developers, QA analysts, and DevOps.
  • Review pull requests for both product code and test suites, holding the line on team quality standards.
  • Help Engineering Leadership shape QA policy across the department — things like where the automated/manual line sits, how AI tools get governed, and what documentation standards look like — then translate that into day-to-day practice.
  • Pair directly with QA Analysts to level up their automation skills, shifting more of their workload from manual regression testing to automated coverage over time.

What You’ll Need

  • 3-5 years working in test automation, systems validation, or backend engineering, ideally at a fast-growing SaaS company.
  • Solid TypeScript (or similar scripting language) skills and hands-on time with automated test frameworks.
  • Real, everyday experience working with AI coding tools like Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Codex, or Claude Code — knowing how to prompt them well and when to double-check their output.
  • A strong grasp of Fowler’s Testing Pyramid and good instincts for what belongs at the unit, integration, or end-to-end level, plus practical skill writing API, functional, and performance tests.
  • A track record of helping less experienced testers or engineers get better at automation.
  • Comfort independently debugging distributed backend services using log analysis and tools like Datadog.

Nice to Have

  • Experience testing message queues (RabbitMQ), graph databases (Neo4j), or caching layers (Redis) under realistic load.
  • Background validating multi-tenant B2B SaaS products where strict data isolation and security compliance (tools like GitLab Ultimate, Sonarqube, Wiz) really matter.
  • Experience building lightweight dashboards or reports that show test coverage trends across teams.

Benefits

Base salary plus variable pay and equity, flexible health and wellness coverage, generous PTO plus company holidays, designated health days, and Summer Fridays. LogicGate also invests in career growth through LinkedIn Learning access, manager training, an internal mentorship program, paid volunteer time, and company-wide charitable initiatives.
