Upstart’s Delivery team is on a mission to make shipping software predictable and self-service, by building reusable deployment tooling, automating routine operational decisions, and giving engineers a clear picture of what’s running in production at any given moment. As a Software Engineer II on this team, you’ll build and run the systems that other engineering teams rely on to release and deploy code — partnering closely with Developer Platform, Cloud Platform, Site Reliability Engineering, Security, and product engineering groups along the way.

What You’ll Do

• Independently take on well-defined engineering projects from design through delivery, and weigh in on technical design decisions.
• Build and improve the reliability and ease of use of systems that sit directly in the path of shipping code to production.
• Create and improve services, automation, and internal tooling that let engineering teams deploy safely and with less friction.
• Develop dependable deployment features — progressive rollouts, automated health checks during deployment, and automatic rollback — to lower the risk of production incidents.

What You’ll Need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Professional software engineering experience, including building production software in one or more general-purpose programming languages.
• Comfort working on systems that directly affect how safely and reliably software reaches production.
