About the Role

As the Software QA Engineer Lead, you will provide strategic technical direction for quality assurance initiatives, securing the reliability and compliance of highly scalable healthcare SaaS applications. You will be responsible for architecting advanced automation frameworks, optimizing CI/CD processes, and championing quality best practices. This leadership role also involves mentoring QA engineers and collaborating with cross-functional product teams to ensure software aligns perfectly with strict clinical workflows and regulatory standards.

What You’ll Do

You will drive end-to-end quality strategy while ensuring all healthcare software meets rigorous data protection and interoperability compliance.

• Establish and execute comprehensive QA strategies, setting standards for functional, regression, integration, and performance testing.
• Architect, build, and maintain advanced automated test suites for cloud-based applications, APIs, and web platforms utilizing frameworks like Playwright, xUnit, or WebDriver IO.
• Lead technical code reviews and supply constructive feedback to both QA and development team members.
• Design automated testing solutions that integrate seamlessly with CI/CD pipelines to guarantee rapid, reliable software deployment.
• Track and report on test results, defect trends, and quality metrics to drive data-informed process enhancements.
• Evaluate and implement cutting-edge testing technologies to expand test coverage.
• Validate system interoperability and data integrity for integrations with external EHRs and clinical platforms.
• Ensure all quality practices strictly adhere to secure coding guidelines and healthcare standards, including HIPAA, FHIR, and HL7.
• Lead Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups.
• Actively coach and mentor QA engineers, promoting continuous learning and technical growth.
• Apply advanced analytical problem-solving skills to troubleshoot complex system issues and drive cross-organizational improvements.

What You’ll Need

• A Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
• 5 to 8 years of relevant work experience in software quality engineering.
• Demonstrated expertise with advanced test automation, particularly targeting cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Proven leadership experience managing QA teams, initiatives, and quality strategy.
• Familiarity navigating and testing within strict healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, HL7, FHIR).
• Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.

Nice to Have

• Proficiency with specific testing tools including xUnit, WebDriver IO, Playwright, and Jasmine.
• Cloud certifications for AWS or Azure.
• Hands-on experience with collaboration and version control tools like GitHub, Git, and Jira.
• Professional QA certifications such as CSTE, ISTQB, or similar.
