There’s something magical about creating something with your own hands, especially when it’s for someone you care about. Recently, I made a DIY pull-tab love card, and it turned out so charming that I knew I had to share the process with you. This card is perfect for any occasion – whether it’s Valentine’s Day, an anniversary, or simply a thoughtful gesture to let someone know how much they mean to you. Let me walk you through exactly how I made it!
Materials You’ll Need:
Sturdy cardstock or thick paper for the base
Colored paper (I used pastel shades for a soft and sweet look)
Scissors
Glue stick or double-sided tape
A ruler
A pencil
Black marker or pen
Optional: Decorative elements like glitter, stickers, or washi tape
Step 1: Preparing the Card Base
I started by cutting a piece of sturdy cardstock to serve as the base of the card. I wanted it to feel solid and hold up to the pull-tab mechanism, so I chose a thicker paper. The dimensions of my card were approximately 6 inches by 8 inches when folded, but you can customize this based on your preference.
Step 2: Creating the Layered Heart Design
The heart design is the centerpiece of this card, and it’s easier to make than it looks! Here’s how I did it:
Cut the Hearts: Using pastel-colored paper, I cut out several heart shapes in varying sizes. I made sure they were symmetrical by folding the paper in half and cutting along the fold.
