Gather My Materials: I started by collecting all the supplies I needed:
- Sturdy colored paper (I chose purple cardstock in two shades)
- A pencil
- Scissors
- Glue (I prefer using a hot glue gun for quick drying)
- A small circular base (I cut out a cardstock circle to glue the petals onto)
Cut Out the Petals: I traced and cut out several petal shapes on my colored paper. I went for a pointed petal design. To create a full flower, I cut multiple sets of petals in different sizes. For each size, I made about 6–8 petals (sometimes more, depending on how dense I wanted each layer to look).
Shape the Petals: To give the petals some dimension, I curled the tips around a pencil or folded them gently. This step helped the petals look more natural and added texture.
Build the First Layer: Using the largest petals, I arranged them in a circle on my cardstock base. I overlapped each petal slightly and glued them down. This formed the foundation of the flower.
Add More Layers: Once the base layer was in place, I took the next smaller set of petals and glued them on top, aligning each petal between the gaps of the layer below. I repeated this process with each smaller size of petal, working my way inward. Each new layer sat slightly above the previous one, creating depth.
Create the Center: For the center, I used the smallest petals and glued them tightly together. Another option is to cut a strip of paper, fringe one edge, and roll it into a spiral to form a fringed center. Either method adds a nice finishing touch.
Final Touches: I carefully fluffed and adjusted the petals to make sure they were spread out nicely and looked balanced. Then I let the glue dry completely before moving the flowers around.
Display: I love using these paper flowers for wall décor, party backdrops, or even table centerpieces. I sometimes mix different sizes and colors for a fun, decorative arrangement.

By following these steps and experimenting with colors and petal shapes, I was able to create these beautiful paper flowers that add a lovely, handmade touch to any space.
