I recently tried out a fun and easy craft project, and I wanted to share it with you all! I made some adorable little turtles using recycled egg trays. This project is simple, eco-friendly, and a great way to get creative. Here’s how I did it.
DIY Craft: How I Made Cute Turtles Using Egg Trays
Materials I Used:
- An empty egg tray
- Green or yellow paint (acrylic or washable)
- Paintbrushes
- Scissors
- Glue
- Small googly eyes (or a marker to draw eyes)
- Colored paper (optional for extra decoration)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Making the Turtle Shell

- First, I cut out a single section of the egg tray to use as the turtle’s shell.
- Then, I painted the egg tray section green (you can also use yellow if you prefer) and let it dry.
Step 2: Creating the Head, Legs, and Tail

- Next, I cut out small pieces of colored paper for the head, legs, and tail. You can make them out of green or yellow paper to match the shell.
- After cutting, I broke or shaped the pieces to be just the right size and glued them to the underside of the shell.
Step 3: Adding the Eyes

- I added googly eyes to the turtle’s head to give it a cute, expressive look. If you don’t have googly eyes, you can always draw them on with a marker.
- I even added a little smile to give my turtle some personality!
Step 4: Final Touches

- Once the paint and glue were completely dry, my turtle was ready!
- You can customize your turtle however you like—add patterns, use different colors, or even make a whole family of turtles.
Why I Love This Craft
I enjoy making crafts from recycled materials because it’s a fun way to be creative and eco-friendly. It’s a great activity for kids or anyone looking to pass the time in a fun, productive way. Plus, these little turtles make adorable desk decorations or gifts!
If you give this craft a try, I’d love to see your turtle creations! Happy crafting!
